Can you give us an overview of Silurus Software and the key services you provide to medical technology companies?
Silurus Software is an international software development company with offices in Singapore and Budapest, bringing more than 8 years of experience to the industry.
Our specialization is in medical applications with five key services:
- Development of comprehensive systems for medical imaging and radiation therapy, including DICOM file handling and flexible data models. Currently we are working with Siemens Healthineers in radiotherapy and oncology solutions.
- Development of cloud-based platforms for hosting medical image contouring algorithms, eliminating the need for costly local hardware.
- Development of integration solutions connecting radiotherapy machines with patient management systems, based on DICOM and HL7 protocols.
- Provision of quality assurance and regulatory compliance services, aligned with EU MDR and FDA requirements.
- Development of multi-layered technical support systems for critical medical environments, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
Your company operates in Central Eastern Europe and Singapore. How does this global presence benefit your clients?
Our dual presence offers a range of strategic advantages. It allows for extended operational coverage across time zones, ensuring nearly continuous workflow for urgent projects. By tapping into diverse talent pools from both regions, we combine Central European engineering excellence with the dynamic innovation ecosystem of Singapore. This setup fosters cultural and technical collaboration for clients working across various healthcare systems, with ongoing cooperation involving American, Swiss, German, and Finnish partners. Additionally, our active engagement with local and European attachés, consulates, industry clusters, and venture capital communities in both regions supports clients in entering new markets, understanding regional environments, and connecting with potential partners or funding sources.
You specialize in integrating medical devices with hospital systems. What are the biggest challenges in this area, and how do you address them?
We specialize in integrating medical devices with hospital systems and have identified several key challenges in this area. Central to all our efforts is the prioritization of patients — this includes streamlining medical processes, supporting healthcare staff, and ensuring rapid investigation of complaints in accordance with local regulatory requirements. To address interoperability issues in diverse healthcare environments, we develop sophisticated system interfaces that utilize both DICOM and HL7 protocols. Data protection is another critical focus: we implement robust security measures and advanced anonymization techniques that maintain data utility while ensuring compliance with patient privacy regulations. Our commitment to patient safety is reflected in the delivery of high-quality software, backed by extensive, structured, and detailed testing processes. Additionally, we offer multi-tiered support systems that provide immediate assistance, with critical cases escalated to expert teams dedicated to maintaining seamless hospital operations through effective workarounds.
What kind of partnerships do you typically form with MedTech companies, and what role do venture capital firms play in your business strategy?
We typically form long-term development partnerships with established MedTech companies, integrating dedicated teams that function as extensions of their R&D departments over the course of multi-year collaborations. In addition, we assemble specialized teams for targeted initiatives, such as the development of cloud-based platforms for medical algorithms. Our support extends to building the technical infrastructure required for clinical evaluations and market deployment, offering regulatory guidance through comprehensive documentation and validation protocols. We maintain strong relationships with German partners, bolstered by cultural familiarity, language fluency, and personal as well as professional ties to Erlangen. For venture-capital-backed MedTech startups, we provide specialized expertise to accelerate their go-to-market strategies while upholding the highest quality standards. Our partnership models are tailored to match each company’s funding stage, developed in close collaboration with venture capital firms that rely on us for technical evaluation and development support within their portfolios.
